Movie preview- yet another salman action flick 2.5/5
Expect sallu to be the mindless action guru and kareena the typical bhartiya naari
30mins into the film – bad jokes… not vulgar, but same old stupid jokes… and the suppporting actress looks much better than kareena… dont recall her name..
Ok.. now first half is a boring love story… or should i say boring lovely singh story
The lovely effect is like the nightingale effect… tumne meri jaan bachayee.. and now i will love you.. wow..so original..
The action director loves splits.. every other goonda ends up in a split.. poor souls… Isse toh acha maar daalta..
And for the analyst bend – cinema hall utilization at ~70percent..
This is killing me… 2hrs into the film, but whr r the fight scenes… and sallu showing off for song!!! Yaar ek dhang ka fight toh dikha do…
Spoiler alert.
Kuch kuch hota hai ending… i rest my case
Shakal (the villian) kills Ram. same time Ram’s son Vijay is born. Vijay wants to avenge his father’s death. 25 years later, Shakal kills Raj’s family and community people. Raj, eventhough a very rationale person, wants to avenge the loss. So grown-up Vijay and Raj team up to kill Shakal and out end to his evil intentions. A typical bollywood philum… No??
Now just go back and substitite Ram with George Kirk , Vijay with James T. Kirk , Shakal with Nero and replace the director with a firang, add some sci-fi physics concepts, imaginative weapons, nice visual graphics, with some love angel thrown in between and resurrect a hollywood franchise. Now that’s Startrek (2009 film) for you. Had expected great storyline but apart from the sets and the visual graphics, the movie was as good as a bolywood flick.
Let’s see how transformers-2 turns out to be….

The last sports based film i saw was IQBAL. Liked it very much. And as my friend Arri used to say – “It’s a simple film, told even simpler” . The film had a strong plot, coupled with great actors ( not stars), awesome script and was well directed by Nagesh Kukunoor.
Come 2007, and we have Chak de India. A film made on a bigger budget, has SRK, splendid cinematography, excellent story line again and pictures Delhi and field scenes beautifully. The bigness doesn’t stop there, but unlike Yash Raj’s previous films it doesn’t have any other star. It has a dozen of not so well known (till know) girls. Where IQBAL talked about the journey of a person in the field of sports, Chak de India takes it a step forward by showcasing the journey of a TEAM from being a hopeless national team to becoming World Champions. I won’t be surprised if any B-School comes up with a case study based on the film. Chak de India is more about India than sports.
In simple words the film says – United we stand, divided we fall.
and to end with….. my DEMON “moral of the story”
