The fans were at their best, but not enough for the tense atmosphere with its pin drop silence. Sweaty palms at the table, none dared ask for another one before finishing what is on table. Suddenly, he shouted. All eyes turned to see the courageous. He signaled the lady doing rounds – “Extra sheet please Ma’am”

That’s difficult to answer – too many variables in play – facebook likes, youtube hits, twitter follower count, google search trends…. the list is endless and vague… you might have a better chance at predicting whether Obama will win the elections of not.

And guess what, it is damn straight easy to check who will win the biggest election in 2012 – Obama or Romney. (the biggest government change though is happening northeast of India in Nov).

Per the latest intrade data – punters predict Obama to win with an 80% chance… as for the uninitiated, Intrade is like a stock exchange where political predictions can be traded on a scale of 10. Each trade has a yes and no chance. If the prediction comes true then the shares will give out $10. If the prediction is false then the share will yield a lower bank balance. Its more like sports betting without sports or stock market without stocks. Its legality is obviously questionable but they have found some way to circumvent it for now (read headquartered in a different country). Now coming back to the US 2012 elections trade – 20% chance that Romney will win – that’s it…. even 2016 Obama film didn’t help him.

monthly wrapup – 04/2011

woah…. some serious stuff happened over the last month. while a $5 billion wedding was watched by all raj fans across the globe… a >$400 billion man hunt was watched by even more as supporters and haters gather to mourn and celebrate the kill… rebels continue to fight against oppressors in Maghreb region, oil rich region, here, here, royal kingdom and here. Anna (not the tennis star) continues to fight the government while 2G, CWG continue to top the acronym list…  nevertheless, some Indians did make us feel proud and everyone in India was out on the streets rejoicing the win… the money spewing league was back in its latest avatar with 2 new teams…. and while India tries to uncover black money from european accounts, Goa’s ex-european rulers are facing the heat and have joined the soon to be long list of bankrupts… time for goa to takeover them….

Posting After Long time (PALT)

Posting after a long time. Actually a really long time….. the sensex has shed more than 23% points, india has sent a spacecraft to moon, a certain Mr. Obama has won the US elections, Indian auto companies have cut down salary, my company took us to QOS screening (hope they won’t cut our salary, HR ppl… hope u r reading … X-fingers crossed), India beat australia 2-0 in test cricket, Arsenal beat ManU 2-1, Vishy is now the world chess champion, more than 10,000 people lost their jobs in US, and even more companies went bankrupt.

enuf of the global gyan….  now turning the pointer to me… have been pretty busy with work and a certification exam… though… did get the time to visit pondicherry  and temple cities near thanjavur. nice place… do visit… it seems so that every town (small or big) has got a big temple for it… guess they were used as a commonplace for trade, socializing, politics and justice in olden times. Anyways, make sure to take a guide with you, the places are just carved stones without one.
