HDR

Being a Photoshop fan,i tend to browse the net for photography and editing related material. and one fine day i discovered HDR….. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range
Wikipedia says : “high dynamic range imaging (HDRI) is a set of techniques that allows a greater
dynamic range of exposures
(the range of values between light and dark areas) than normal digital
imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent
the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from
direct sunlight to shadows.”
more can be read on – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging
some professional material on HDR can be found at
http://www.hdrsoft.com/resources/dri.html

HDR,
as of now, is a process which combines capturing the image and then
editing it on softwares like photoshop, hdrsoft, corel etc… However,
there are cameras in pipeline which will be HDR compatible to a certain
extent…. With resolutions already reaching hig levels.. like my point
n shoot cam has a 7MP resolution, the new cameras would differentiate
themselves on the basis of the quality of the pixles. Info on this
aspect can be found on

http://www.cybergrain.com/tech/hdr/

The two most imp things reqd for
HDR are – SLR cam and tripod….. software can be easily downloaded and
there are many freewares available…..

and for those who can’t get the first two, Photoshop is there for your help. Through Photoshop you can edit pictures to get the HDR feel, but then a fake is a fake.

hope
this helps….

i’m gonna build a parachute

in my final trimester…. i have thought… or i must say made my mind to build a model working parachute. as usual i googled bout it … nd found this interesting concept of a tetrahedron parachute.

I’ve now finalized upon building a tetrahedron parachute. well first i’ll hav to calculate the required dimension. I’ll keep it small for ease of manufacturing. maybe 1/2 mtr to 1 mtr high. i’m not sure about the material. as of now i’d be goin for polyethylene, or light plastic sheet. Well i guess i forgot to mention one more thing. THE BUDGET. I intend to make it for less than Rs 499.
So as of now i’ll be searching materials for my project.
i have pated a rough diagram of the parachute (as given here ) below. The upper diagram is the top view, and the one below it is the front view.

Pour in your suggestions. And if u’d like to sponsor the project, u r more than welcome… :)

halla bol

HALLA BOL…. after watching the film i feel more like “HALLA BOL” against the director. What could had been another Rang de Basanti turned out to be more like a film from the 80s. It talks about everything from corrupt politicians to selfish socialites to high society murders to scandal hungry news channels and what not. But, it fails to make an impact on any of these. The cinematography is not that good either. Script is very crude and might appeal only to rural folks who understand hindi. Reiteration of the same old plot leaves the viewers wanting for something more or extraordinary, which this film certainly dosen’t provide.
If you have nothing to do, and are ready to which the worst film of the year, even then don’t commit the mistake to watch this one.

No Ink

After xerox, its now zink. xerox mastered the art of reusable paper. However, the paper still requires ink for printing. Here’s where Zink fits in. Zink, or Zero Ink, is a company which is about to bring in zero ink printing. For the technically oriented people, zink works on the concept of thermal imaging. The “zink paper” consists of various crystals, which when melted give out different colours. And then its magic. The small printer (which consists only of a thermal head) churns out high quality prints. And as the technology is limited only by the paper size, your print can be as big as your paper.

So, what do businesses have in store?? Well for the starters, you can see a whole range of products which would be working on zink. Zink printer embedded cameras, mobile phones, mobile printer etc.. One can see various applications. Apart from home applications industrial applications can come up in a big way. Operations which require colour printed documentation will find many uses for such a product. It could also be used as a ticket vending machine.
But, it should be reasonably priced, or else it will meet Polaroid’s fate. After all, what is technology if not affordable??
